Mass ABOTA hosted its third annual Law Day reception on May 7, 2010  at the US District Courthouse.  The reception was very well attended by both bench and

bar.

This year’s Law Day  ceremony was doubly meaningful as we honored United States District Judge Reginald Lindsay, posthumously, by presenting his wife with the second William Whiting Award for Judicial Courage in Judge Lindsay’s name and memory.

The Honorable Mark L. Wolf, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, gave a poignant keynote address.
He spoke not only of Judge Lindsay’s obvious courage and well-known sense of humor, but also of his keen analytical ability and his inherent sense of fairness that made Judge Lindsay a widely respected and loved member of the federal bench, by lawyers and fellow judges alike.

Pete Durney presented Mrs. Lindsay with the William Whiting Award, honoring her husband for his judicial courage.
Mrs. Lindsay gave a touching acceptance speech in which she thanks the lawyers and judges for their support of her husband during his time on the bench.

Mass ABOTA presented an identical plaque to Judge Wolf to be displayed in the Federal Courthouse.  Judge Wolf assured the gathering that he wold consult with his colleagues on the bench and find an appropriate place for the award where all could view it and remember this wonderful, talented and thoughtful man.
